I am looking at purchasing my 1st tri bike and was looking at either the Giant Trinity and the Planet x Stealth. I see that the Trinity is aluminium while the Stealth is carbon, however the trinity seems to look more aerodynamic. I am looking for opinions on these 2 bikes. In terms of size I am short 1.73m and have an in seam of around 76 cm.I am currently new to the sport and in terms of race distances I intend to do Olympic, 70.3 and ironman events in the future
I had a Trinity Alliance (carbon/Alu) and it was a great bike. Upgraded to a P3, but in hindsight I do missthe ride of my Alliance. It’s probably mostly because I havent gotten my fit nailed down. It was a smooth ride, and handled great. I’d go back to one in without a second thought.
Ride them both and pick the one you feel most comfortable on.
I just bought a Planet X Stealth and love it. Especially for the price. It’s full SRAM Red, has a 82/101 carbon wheelset, and is very comfortable. All for about 3,000.
Just my advise, but I wouldn’t buy a tri bike based on how “aero” it looks. Especially, since you’re new to the sport. I would look for comfort, fit, and price.
We have both in our house - love both. Not sure one is that much better than another…but my daily driver is the PX.
