I recently switched from a Giant TCR Alliance 2009 m/l frame to a 2013 TCR Advanced m/l. The difference in stiffness is unbelievable and descending on the new frame is pure joy. Rather than pay for a new fit I had the fit from the TCR alliance pulled and applied to the new bike (I found it extremely comfortable). While I’ve had incredible gains as far as overall speed etc I’ve found my lower back aching at the end of rides. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Never happened on the older bike…could it be due to the increased stiffness/rigidity and I’ll just get used to it? I’m a little perplexed…any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
Oh, snap! I thought this was going to be a thread about getting a bike fit for a really, really big guy…
That’d be awesome!
Same saddle bars and pedals? I angle my pelvis differently on different saddles. I hold bars differently based on comfort. There also could have been an error in the measurement/setup. If you like the bike more you might be riding more. Good luck.
You mean it’s not laterally stiff while still being vertically compliant?!
.
Same saddle and pedals, different bars which are stiffer but pretty much the same dimensions as my old ones and a new stem because the old one wouldn’t fit on the OD2 steerer thing. The stem was also an upgrade from the previous one so I’m assuming better materials and stiffness. It’s not uncomfortable per se…just get lower back fatigue when I never got it before. I suppose measurements could be off but I went over it with the mechanic and it seemed pretty spot on.
