I’d like to go watch the race this year. Watch friends race, make fun of Marisol and sharks, and also remember why I do that sport…that’d be a great motivator for future races when things get tough…
What’s the best way to get good deals on flights to Kona (besides hiding in a bike box…although I am sure I fit in one and if someone’s willing, I can tell you after how TSA agents really take care of our bikes )? What is a good price? If someone’s rowing there, can I join you (I bring my oar)?
Can I get a $500 ticket in first class for a direct flight between El Paso and Kona that takes only 2hrs?
Check out Southwest too. I don’t think it participates in the other web sites. It has some dang cheap airfares to HI. I also like to use Qixo.com to search.
America West usually has super-cheap tickets, esp if you can fly out of Phoenix. They’re merging with US Airways so it may be best to call them to inquire about prices.
have you tried looking into flights to honolulu or maui, then taking a puddle jumper? also try earlier in the week, i’m sure someone would let you shack up.
I’ve gotten good deals in the past on Hawaiian…but you have to search a bit, and it sounds like you’re doing that. Price out several different alternatives direct with the airlines, then with a couple of “cheapies” like Priceline, Travelocity and Hotwire.
Or, you could do the old fashioned way and get a travel agent to do all that for you. Depends on your tolerance for online activity…which for most of us I would imagine is pretty damn high!
