Getting sticky sports drink off frame?

Can’t imagine this hasn’t been covered, but I didn’t find anything searching.

Any tips for getting Gatorade (or in my case, Infinit) off my frame? I tried Goo Gone, and it was useless. This stuff is like lacquer.

Water? It’s called the universal solvent for a reason.

Just soak it with water really well, and then wipe it down.

Yup - water is all you need. Just lots of it on a sponge and it will come right off!

A bucket with soap and warm water works really well to wash off sugar from the frame. Rinse well with water.

I typically use the pre-moistened kitchen wipes from Clorox. Once it’s all off I follow with wax.

Funny how we try special cleaners first. You are right bike polish does nothing to it, but water works every time.

rubbing alcohol…

Like others have said, warm water. I find that microfiber towels work great.

I hook a hose up the the sink in the laundry area of the garage and use good and hot water. Melts it away like buddah.

Reminds me, I need to do that tomorow before I ship the bike off to Canada.

I have always used Pledge. It contains no water and leaves a nice coat of wax. It gets off GU and sticky drinks. Most bikes shops I have been to follow the same method.

Feel like an idiot for not considering the obvious first. Thanks for all the tips, I’ll start with soap and water and see where it gets me.

It’s just one of the many services the ST community provides.

I like Pedro’s Green Fizz:

Get the bike wet, spray with Green Fizz, and then a big Pedro’s brush, and rinse- bike like new!

You can get this at most bike shops that stock Pedro’s tools. Also @ REI.

Goat urine, preferably female (and slightly dehydrated) is best.

Simple Green and warm water will work in a pinch.
