OK, just a few more finishing touches and my “analness” will be subdued …
Hope everyones training is finishing up well - looking forward (for once)
to the taper! Final 100 miler (on the course) tomorrow!

Sweet looking ride, Rod! Good luck out there in Louisville.
I have some custom Infinit headed my way. Gonna give that a try and see how it goes down.

looking good rod! I rode the course last monday and it’s going to be a challenging one but not due to the hills as much as the wind and road surface.
New wheels…new saddle?
looks like we’ll be racing the same tires.
I’m still praying for rain and adjusting my expectations downward due to the heat. What was your wife’s relative’s name who works with keynote?
You so need a Bento box…I am serious man…it was a godsend, but like most things of the sort - I was not a believer at first.
Dan - actually, leaving the rear 23mm ProRace2 on, but switching to a 20mm Vittoria Evo CX for the front (latex tube). Nope, had the saddle a while (on my Soloist Carbon) - I’ll probably add my DeSoto neoprene seat cover for IM distance though. Yes, new wheels. Wanted to maximize everything, so this is aero as I can go with clinchers (disc and 90 mm front). I need every last minute or two I can save (aero helmet etc.) at this juncture since I will (hopefully) be on the “Kona cusp”
Keynote? Rob Griepentrog
Chip - No Bento Box needed (although I do have one). Won’t fit anyway since I have ZERO spacers and no where to put the velcro (I saw your set up was similar). With InfinIT supplying most of my fluid (water at aid stations), electrolytes and caloried, I just use the gel flask with CarbBoom! for some more calories. Might have a few extra Lava Salts since it will likely be soooo hot in KY, but need to be careful since too much Na+ and the stomach gets a little wonky.
good luck buddy. I’ve got a good feeling about you qualifying for Kona. don’t be discouraged if they swim and bike are a little slower than you anticipate b/c i think they will be for everyone. It’s the run where I think you’re going to catch a lot of guys.
Looks good Rod!
I should be getting and building up my new Stealth on Tuesday since my frame was cracked after getting hit by the car at Vineman half last week.
Kylie and I will be at Kentucky as well although I don’t know yet whether I will be able to race or not.
I’m going stircrazy right now not being able to train, tomorrow was supposed to be my last long ride as well.
interesting graphic on the disc.
can you tell us more about it? who, what, where, why, how much, etc.?
Graphic? Tribal art mixed with a checkered flag (in silver to match the bike) for meaning/purpose. I was going to to all stealth black, but it was just too plain. Found the graphic online at one of the typical shops (don’t remember which, sorry) and had them stretch it to about fit the wheel width. It was pre-designed with a central hole/swirl and I just stuck the hub in that hole. Voila! I think it was $30 each. Leaving the front deep and stealthy ![]()
mike - heard about your accident. Ouch! Will have to meet in Lou
You so need a Bento box…I am serious man…it was a godsend
They make jerseys for racing and training with back-pockets for a reason. ![]()
Simple. Easy.
SHAZAM, YOU GOT THE WHEELS!
holly molly, that is a heck of a ride, baby! i called Evan in here so we could drool over it together. I’M SO PUMPED UP FOR YOU!
and also so glad to read INFINIT will be supplying your fuel on the ride. that is most excellent and will keep you going strong. i was hoping you would come to this decision with Infinit! and you’re already trained with GEF in case you get in a situation and need to change plans. good on ya mr roof! you’re definitely ready. ![]()
honestly, i can’t wait to see you rip through that course. you’re going to kick ass and take names my friend!
the checkered flag gets me pumped up just looking at it; that graphic is definitely YOU.
meow,
miss kitty
Looks Very Nice!!
In reference to “need to be careful since too much Na+ and the stomach gets a little wonky”… try substituting a little Lithium for the Sodium, and I’m sure your mental issues (ie. anal-ness) will soon be in control!
;< )
Best wished in KY, I hope to be there cheering you on.
Mark
Good luck, Rod. You’ve given me excellent foot/med advice, and I hope to pay that back on your race day by wishing you good mojo and a Kona slot!
bump for those on the fence about a great bike at a great price - esp noobies lured in by the Cervelo mafia
Don’t despair, my “other” bike is a Cervelo too. And previously on a Guru and Litespeed and I know a good bike when I ride one.
Just finished my last 100 miler today on the Lou course. If it is as hot (94 degrees) and humid (cut the air with a knife) as today, there will be a lot of DNFs. Must have been 50 bikers all over the course today. Locals were great with absolutely ZERO issues at all. Roads are in AWESOME shape - run whatever tires/wheels you want (preferably Tufos with tape if you are in the M35-39 AG) ![]()
Damn that’s nice…you are really making the decision to go Planet X style easier by the day:)
.
Your flask is backwards ![]()
It might be easier this way but flip that thing and you’d be suprised how easy the last gulps of the gel to suck. (hint: with the velocity forward gel goes to the back)
You stripped off your carbon bar tape ??? Think of the second(s) you’ve given up !
You stripped off your carbon bar tape ??? Think of the second(s) you’ve given up !
Wow, how do you remember that! Yes, it was getting a little funky with all the super hot summer riding and was needing replaced. I’m a sucker for classic white bar tape/saddle combo. Looks good on just about anything!
Good luck Rod! I will be waiting for an good race report. Joe and I expect to see you in Kona next year.

I hate to tell ya this, but yer bike seems to be spouting water from all over ![]()
