Joe Papp has given the email correspondence between him and Patrice Ciprelli (Longo’s husband and coach) to the French press.
The emails had been authenticated by the US gov during Papp’s trial (he was asked to cooperate to avoid prison time). Apparently,
Ciprelli had ordered EPO from China in 2007, through Joe Papp.
Ciprelli says that this is all false. Longo keeps quiet. Edwidge Pitel who was also coached by Ciprelli in 2007 is outraged that her
name is linked to this (she isn’t mentioned in the email). Ciprelli says apparently in some emails that the EPO is for ‘his wife’.
If convicted, Longo could face a 6 year ban. She could come back when she’s 59 years old though…

Agree with Jack on this one…If she’s dirty and got caught, good riddance. I want a clean sport and if some “legends” need to fall for that to happen, so be it.

I didn’t give anyone in the French press anything in order for them to write this story, which they were working on well in advance of the weekend. l’Equipe obtained on its own documents from my criminal case file, including the emails in question. I simply confirmed their content and advised them that they had been deemed authentic enough by the US Gov’t for the DEA, the US Attorneys Office and the FDA criminal investigation office to enter them into the record of my case as evidence.

I could be reading it wrong butI I got the sense that he was talking about PAST accomplishments. Like perhaps for some of those women did not get contracts or did not go to the olympics because jeannie longo was in front of them.

I met her at the worlds in Hamilton way back (2003?) when she was busy warming up for her TT. She was really nice, posed for photos with my friends and I, all just several minutes before starting her TT. I’ve always been a big fan. I know they need to clean the sport up, but I still think all these guys and gals at the top of the sport are absolute physical monsters, and they have my respect regardless of all the doping stuff.

I get that you as a both a doper and supplier now wants to cooperate and try to save your own butt, what I don’t get is why you feel the need to go online to multiple forums and almost brag about how the same people you helped supply are now screwed. So if the reason they are absolute monsters is because they are all doped up, you give them respect for that? Baffling.
Her constant refrain of being “the most tested athlete in sports” sounds a little too familiar. I’d love to believe she’s clean though, it’s a great story.
