Thinking of getting a tattoo of my daughters name either on my calf or bicep.
Want to get opinions…is this cheesy, or endearing that a dad wants to get the name of his kid etched forever on his body.
I think about my hunni bunni all the time, and just want her to know i would anything for her. On the the other hand I, dont want her growing up thinking ‘dad, thats gross’
FYI shes 2 and half years old.
I cant even imagine what life is going to be life 18-20 years from now.
Opinions people, as im thinkig of doing this for my love of my lil cutie pie.
Find something to symbolize her name, rather than name.
Designed a tatt for my family, getting it on calf when Achilles heals from surgery.
Wife, Robin - little robin
Daughter, Rio - blue parrot feathers from the bird in movie Rio
Son, Finn - the sword from adventure time
Son, Oliver - an olive on a toothpick
There are other elements to the tatt but that’s their inclusions.
Her name is Senna. After the F1 racing driver Ayrton Senna (Brazilian). (There is a deeper story beyond why she is named Senna, beyond the F1 driver…one that is close to my heart)
I could always make her name out with a F1 helmet, but I just want her name to be honest.
The make question is, is it too over the top to have your kids names on you?
Its just the dad in me, I want to do it because I care for her so much - just wanted to hear from other parents that have actually done it.
Someday you will get to a point where you don’t care what people think. My nephew has the first names of both of his kids tattooed on his forearm. He wouldn’t change it for the world. If that’s what you want, do it.
Well, since you’re looking for opinions and you did bring up the possibility that someday she might think it’s gross or creepy, I probably wouldn’t do it just because she might feel that way someday.
The thought of my old man having my name tattooed on his arm does kind of creep me out and makes me laugh.
Im in the i think it’s creepy camp. I get that you love your daughter and all that, but I feel there are other ways to show her you love her. Have a special tradition that only the 2 of you do. Or if you are insistent on getting a tattoo at least have it be a symbol or an image that is special to the both of you.
She’s two. She will grow up knowing you have her name inked on you because of how much you love her. So, for her, it will never be gross or embarrassing.
I agree with others - do it as a design of some sorts.
Tats aren’t my thing. I just don’t understand why anybody would want to white trash themselves up. But that’s just me. It’s your choice. Do what you think is best for you and her.
I’m not a big tat guy (don’t have any, yet) but when I’ve considered getting one before the first thing I’ve thought would be my kids names too (most likely one on each shoulder).
