I think I’ve sold a p2k for you (in 04.) Someone I know is looking at the p2k, so I’ve got a couple of questions.
What is changing? Paint Color? Price?
How much is it to upgrade to carbon post, or wolf fork(is it even available?)
Are you adding any new dealers in the midwest? at one point I’d been to a bike shop in Decatur Illinois (not where I live, but certainly more driveable than Chicago) I believe the name was Spin City Cycles, said they were going to try and pick up Cervelo this year, is this true?
Paint (blue/white), wheels (Velomax), tires (Vittoria Rubino Pro), seatpost (carbon), stem (Syntace F99), price ($2199). The carbon seatpost shaft is also being shipped out to those who still get one on their '03 Cervelo.
An aftermarket carbon seatpost is $150, but it won’t be available aftermarket until all backorders have been filled.
We’re adding few new dealers, since we already have a very solid group. It is funny how dealer interest is inversely related to our need for new dealers. We could have tripled our dealer base at Interbike, but that just means more pain and no gain for us. Now all of a sudden everybody who didn’t want to talk to us years ago wants to be a dealer. Can’t blame them, but we have little need for new ones now. There are of course exceptions, as there are still areas where we have no representation right now.
I don’t know specifically about Spin City, I’m a bit removed from sales these days.
I heard (and I hope that it is true) that a shop in Rockford IL is going to be a stocking dealer - I have been twisting the arm of the owner to stock Cervelo for about a year now. With Gerards comments it looks as if that may not be the case…we really have no representation by the IBD’s in the area for the Tri folks…other than one moron who claims to be the “Triathon Specialist” (due one the sole fact that he had that printed in the yellow pages).
If there is no Cervelo dealer in the area and a shop is interested in becoming a dealer (and it’s a viable shop), chances are pretty good. We’re just not interested in adding dealers in areas where we already have good representation, it makes no sense to triple our dealer base if we are only doubling our sales, that would reduce the sales per dealer and make them less likely to continue with us long-term.
Dang, sounds like killer specs. I know I would have gone with Cervelo if I’d had a dealer in driving distance, but I took my QR for a ride (the only tri-bike I could find) and fell in love. The p2K will definetly get my recomendation.
Gerard, any idea if p2ks will be in stock again any time soon. I have two members on my local tri team (three including myself but I’m broke and they have money), who want to get p2ks. Our local bike shop/sponsor treats us great but he can never seem to get any p2k bikes without a hell of a long wait. Thanks and I love the new paint jobs. Just did my first Kona on my Prodigy, had a chance to borrow a P3 but just didn’t have the time to set it up. The Prodigy was great though with the addition of a nice lead filled foward seat post…
