Geo-cache

Who’s doing it? I just started this week end and I’m loving it! I think its a great way to have a fun walk. I’m planning on doing it on my off training days and the recovery days.

My fiancee and I started around March and have had a blast! We don’t do it as often now because we’ve found every possible one in town and in the surrounding areas. You’re only limited by 1) the number of other geo-cachers in the area and 2)how far you are willing to drive. In our town someone set up a series of 5 caches in a decent size park called “beat the clock series.” You find the first cache to get the coordinates of the other 4 AND you hit the start button on a stopwatch. Then you haul ass to the other 4 and get back to the stopwatch–great workout!!
Enjoy!

I do. Not as often as I like. My dogs love it too, more running around in the woods for them. I haven’t looked for any in a few months, you’ve reminded its time to find some more!

I put a couple out in the woods where I run alot. I’ve never had a bad run when I see a group of kids with GPS looking for my stash.

At national Habitat meetings, field staff members usually go out in mass for some geocaching fun… we’ve wondered around Atlanta, Phoenix, Orlando and several other places recently. My favorites are the ones that require you to answer questions, solve puzzles in order to figure out the next set of coordinates. Worked through one in Atlanta that had six components before finding the final cache.

Good luck and enjoy!

I have been caching for several years. It’s always fun to check some out when we travel as people usually place them in their favorite places. It has taken us to many great spots that we would have never found on our own.
Unfortunately with my training for Ironman, I have not gotten out to cache in quite a while. I will have to check some out in Hawaii next month.
