That was so cool thanks! I’d never seen one of those early modems that you dial your rotary phone to make the connection with the computer. I googled Micronet 800 and it puts the timeframe from 1983-1991. I’m guessing that since they were discussing the new technology that the video was made closer to 1983.

And yeah, I’m pretty sure the dude’s password was 1234

I remember taking a computer science class in college. Our professor was totally excited about this newfangled thing called email. He decided that the only way we would get our assignments was via email. Of course, very few of us had computers and no one was connected to the internet. So we had to walk to the computer center on campus and sign in to check our email. I still vividly remember what a pain in the ass it was. I just knew that this email thing would never, ever catch on……

I seem to recall Internet connection being fragile, with incoming calls able to kick you offline.

… when downloading a 4mb MP3 off Napster took around 30 minutes.

Sturgill dropped a Gen-X tribute video this week, intro by Doctor Johnny Fever

Got a Gen-X, though could be classified as a Boomer, thing that is really not around anymore.

Using a pair of pantyhose as an emergency fan belt. One of my uncles taught or showed me this trick when his belt broke down in out on the woods. Of course no one thought to ask why he had a pair of pantyhouse in the glove box. I suppose it was just a normal thing for emergency repair back then. But it got us home.

Nowadays, with serpentine systems it wouldn’t work.
