Gen X sh*t

Gen X kids were raised with the understanding that safe spaces are where homicidal demon child murderers go to hunt.

College housemate made some extra cash typing up other students hand written essays to be handed in.

These days, students just have AI generate the whole thing.

And the teachers use AI to grade it. I give it 5 years before the middle men are removed and it’s just computer to computer.

Most accurate photo ever. I was this age in ā€˜85, had the Huffy, the jacket, the New Yorker laces.

I’d have been 12. Had a cheap knockoff of a Huffy, but complete with pads. Also had the cheapest version of fat shoelaces, and a cheap knockoff Members Only pleather jacket.

I grew up poor, but more specifically, my mom had champaign tastes on a beer budget, so lets just say that the budget was a little tight on spending on the kids (thought every now and then they splurged on us).

Yeah but you couldn’t get spanked with that.

No shit - saw the pic before I read the post or saw who posted it, and said: That’s so Sphere as a kid…

It was basically a getting hit with canoe paddle; God help you if Mom ā€œused the edgeā€

Less wind resistance, higher speed on the swing, more concentrated impact

Then the trip to the hospital with ā€œI crashed my bikeā€

And the school bus/ safety patrol belt/ badge.

Driving between Nashville and Kansas City, Sirius is a godsend. I will happily pay for it.

I bought the lifetime Sirius Membership back in 2003 or 2004. My wife thought I was crazy but it paid for itself in 5 years (I think), and I’ve been listening to it ā€œfreeā€ ever since. And as ironclm said, it’s a godsend out in the middle nowhere, which is where Mrs. mck414 and I prefer to vacation.

I am also a sirius fan, rural resident. Worth for a few $/mo. And I dont have to download or organize content.

Sirius is probably the best dollar-for-dollar subscription I have.

Same here. I think I paid $400 or so back in
2003 or 4. It is now $25 a month in Canada. It has paid for itself many times over.

I understand what you’re getting at, but why not just use your phone? I haven’t listened to the radio is over a decade.

I mean, for you it’s paid for. I get it.

There is still, thankfully, a lot of cell deadspace out here. Plus, I don’t like downloading a ton of music on my phone/iCloud. Call me old fashion there.

Plus, phone speakers suck ass, and many people older than 20 don’t want to or can’t have headphones on all the time.

I listen to Sirius primarily in my car. Being able to drive all over the country and not have to find radio stations is nice.
