Geez, I wonder what part of London these suspected terrorist lived in

I’m going to bet Marble Arch. My first visit to London, I made the mistake of staying at the Marble Arch Marriott, I felt like I was in a middle eastern country. A minority in the country of my ancestors.

I’m in Minneapolis now, and this area is becoming like it, I bet there is a part of town like Marble Arch to.

The citizens are treated like a minority these days so visitors shoukdbt expect much better treatment. They are a good example of where we are headed at a high rate of speed.

Let the deportations begin.

I understand that you must not have liked the brown folks you saw but why was staying at Marble Arch a mistake?

The Book of Mormon in the night stand (it’s a Marriott thing).

Oh stop it. I have no issues with muslims or any other “brown person”. My problem is why would you leave a country for another and choose not to assimilate. And worse, why would choose a new home and wage terror against is people. It is well known most of the domestic terror plots were planned in the Marble Arch area with arrest occurring there. And it should be no surprise. It is a city within a city. In fact, it is viewed with such disdain, my colleague who worked in the local hotels I was working at, asked why I chose to stay there. It is the worst part of town.

The reason it was a mistake, was because none of the guest were very friendly. Walking the streets, I was looked at like I was in the wrong place. There were no restaurants that interested me so I had to walk a significant distance to eat. And most importantly, there were no bars and I was an active alcoholic at the time.

All of that for nothing. You should have made clear why it was a mistake in your initial post. Marble Arch is cool because the Woolworths sold Spice Girls items not to be found in other stores. It was a touristic dream for my friends and I.

Marble Arch is by no means the worst part of London. It’s right on the edge of Hyde Park which is one of the nicest parks in London, it’s a short walk to Oxford Street and Bond Street which contain some of London’s best top end shopping, and there are plenty of very nice restaurants and bars in the area. You clearly headed North up Edgware Road which has a large immigrant community, instead of heading East for fancy shops, South for a lovely park, or West towards Notting Hill which is one of the most expensive residential areas. Should have done your research better. You won’t find many friendly guests in any big hotel in London, it’s not a Marble Arch thing, it’s a soulless hotel chain in a big city thing.

From what I know of the backgrounds of most previous UK-bred or -based terrorists, the majority seem to be second generation. I.e. their parents made the decision to come over here, the kids then grow up in a culture where they don’t feel they’re accepted and get disaffected. That was certainly the case with the July 7th bombers - most or all of them were born and grew up here. For me that’s a lot more worrying than somebody choosing to move here and then trying to kill us. The most alarming statistic to come out of this whole ISIS thing is that more British muslims have gone over there to fight than there are muslims in our armed forces.

Correct. It was about seven years ago. I was at the marble
Arch Marriott which was about a couple
Km north of the actual Marble I was told this area is generically Called Marble arch.

I was working at a hotel in Mayfair so walked there and due
To the lack of desirable scenery I walked the park and all the good parts after work. Became visually familiar if not by name with the area from soho to the giant multistory mall to where I was staying. It was like night and day.

It is the worst part of town.

Marble Arch? To steal a local phrase, “You farkin’ wot?”
