Has anyone tried the new Nike T Speed? It’s definitely a cool looking shoe but how do they breathe, fit, feel, etc. Are they worth $189+ tax?
Have 'em, Love 'em. Breath excellent. Fit is snug and shoes are light. Good Carbon sole and great power transfer. No hot spots like my old Lake shoes. They look great too. However I am a bit biased because I only paid $80 at the Nike Emplolyee store in Beaverton, OR. Can’t go wrong at that price.
My thoughts: Great light shoe and love the style.
Christ what a great looking shoe. I’ve owned both the Poggio and now Poggio IIs. I’m sure this shoe fits just like the Poggios, probably built on the same last, and with the same sole. I hadn’t heard a word about the T Speed until this thread. These shoes are now on my MUST HAVE for the year. I love the Poggios, but have always wanted a tri-specific version, particularly for shorter events.
I’ve never bought a pair of tri-specific shoes because I’ve never found any that fit me worth a damn or felt sturdy enough. This shoe certainly looks interesting. It’s available (in limited sizes) on the trek website. The price seems reasonable compared to my Sidi’s especially since this shoe has a stiffer Carbon Fiber sole.

Is that a single strap made to look like two or, two straps?
The Poggios are a very comfortable shoe, but for people with wide feet they are a bit too tight and don’t always make a good tri-shoe since tight lateral shoes can lead to foot cramping. The new Poggio IIIs are supposed to be a bit wider (i just got a pair) but are still a bit tight on my feet and I do not have extremely wide feet. My understanding is that the T-speed is supposed to be even wider - so more like a normal shoe size and was deliberately designed with this problem in mind.
I have not tried them yet, but will probably get a set for this season as I really like the Poggios from a comfort stand point (except the foot cramp of course)!
I can agree with that…the Poggios are a bit narrow…closer to a Sidi than a Carnac…so be careful with that…My feet fit the 10.5 Poggios extremely well…I’m extrapolating that to the T Speeds since I’m sure they are built on the same last and sole…
For the other question someone else asked…yes…that’s ONE reverse closure strap…it simply mimics the look of the Poggio straps…
As for durability…my original Poggios are still going extremely strong evven after my bad accident with the truck a couple of years ago…3 years of scuffs and scratches aside…these shoes are as solid as the day I got them…No issues with my Poggio IIs either…
I should add one thing though…My Poggios DO get a bit tight with thicker socks like the Defeet Woolie Boolies…but the next size up is too loose with thin socks…I’d say the Nikes are a bit less forgiving of differing sock sizes…at least for my feet…I really need one size for cold weather and another for warm weather/tri…
Come on BiGuy you could just get a pair of Lust and have it all. http://www.lustracing.com/home.htm
Let me know if you get a pair and how they are- I have the Poggios as well. Though the only thing getting much work is my run shoes though so PM will probably tip your way. Come down south soon!
