Gatorade and HFCS

Does Gatorade only put High Fructose Corn Syrup in their drinks because it is cheaper?? From everything I have read it is one of the worst things you can eat, drink.

Or am I missing something??

Last Sunday a bunch of people drank Gatorade and ended up in the hospital!

Gatorade DOES NOT use HFCS. Have you actually looked at the ingredients lately?

Thats the ingredient I noticed in it…and yep pretty bad for you according to da Experts of which I’m not one…
even their “fitness” water had the stuff…pretty shitty no wonder it just seems to sit in your gut and cause problems LOL

Reading the ingredients off the bootle right now…Water, sucrose syrup, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (glucose-fructose syrup) etc…

We’ve been through this before… for the last time, the bottled stuff has HFCS, the powdered stuff doesn’t.

are you sure
.

Actually, most of the stuff sold in convenience stores in the US has HFCS listed in the ingredient list nowadays.

I emailed Gatorade about it a week or so ago. If you are interested in their reply, please PM me. The reply was something to the effect of…the recipe has not changed…as opposed to the HFCS 55 that soft drinks use, Gatorade uses HFCS 42.

Depending on whether or not you believe ingredients lists or the differences in the various HFCS formulas, Gatorade does have HFCS or it doesn’t. Confused?

are you sure
Sucrose, Dextrose, citric acid, sodium citrate, monopotassium phosphate, salt, natural lemon and lime flavors with other natural flavors…

Cool thanks…i am guessing that is from the powdered formula??

what are you reading?
if it’s the powdered mix, no, it doesn’t have HFCS.
If it’s bottled, please let us know what flavor.

Last time I checked the bottle, it was the 3rd or 4th item listed.

Powder. The bottled Endurance Formula does not use HFCS though, that much I am sure of.

It’s amazing that people don’t die immediately after ingesting anything with HFCS.

I hardly think it’s one of the worst things you could ingest. It’s sugar. And I would guess that like in other foods, it is used because it’s cheaper than sucrose.

I think most people would be better off just drinking the gatorade and water provided instead of these super concentrated concoctions that they start drinking for the first time on race day.

How many times have we heard “I was feeling ok till about mile 50. I was right on schedule, drinking my 1200 calorie/bottle mega blaster carb + 3000 solution, then all hell broke loose. I’ve never had stomach problems before”.
