Garmin No Longer Allows Exporting Swim Data

I’m old skool with swimming. Why don’t you just learn intervals and such and start your watch when you start your workout, use it as a pace clock, and stop it when you finish?

When I swim long sets I find it quite useful. This is usually when I am getting ready for a long swim in the summer.

For sets of 800 or more I find it quite useful to keep the times. I also set the vibrate function to go off every 1:15 or 1:20 or whatever the desired pace per 100 is.

In a larger context, I think this opens up some swim set types that we as coaches haven’t used much before pretty much because they were a pain in the ass for the athlete to do and the intensity was hard to monitor. We in the swim community often talk about how multiple intervals of 300 or less are used for distance training to keep the athlete’s focus going. but this may open up another set type for frequent use by the athletes that have that tool.

And yes, you can do long interval sets with a regular watch or maybe a pace clock that you check every 50 as you turn. But the 910 makes it much easier to pull off.
