Is there any hope for my Garmin Forerunner 205- for the past ~6 weeks the unit sometimes will turn off when I press the mode button or one of the arrow keys. I know I’ve read lots of problems on here, many only solved by Garmin sending them a new unit, but I can’t find this one in particular so I’m not sure if I’ll qualify. The unit has been fully charged for at least some of the times that this has happened, and I’m assuming that the battery isn’t the problem here since eventually I can get the watch back on again. Sometimes it takes a few mins for the power button to be recognized again though- no beeping, nothing- until it finally turn back on again. One time in trying to turn it back on I got a weird error message screen- at least 6 lines of tiny text, one of them telling me a ‘voltage’! It took a few mins before I could get the unit to turn off that time, but when I got it back on, it was ok… for a bit…
The worst occurrence of this happened this past wknd- after 0.1 miles I wanted to check what elevation I was at and pressed an arrow key, shutting the unit down unfortunately. Got it back up and running quickly, then after 3+ miles I took a jacket off and must have brushed against a button, turning the unit off again. Took >5 mins to get it going again since every time I pressed the arrow key to get the screen I wanted, the unit turned off (each time it took longer to turn it back on). Then my watch became possessed by the devil (because there’s no other explanation
) and in less than 15 seconds the watch increased my mileage from 3 miles to 10+ miles until I got over the shock and turned the device off/ reset it. I’ve never gone swimming with it, and am not running in any dense forests or around skyscrapers etc… So I’m really not sure how it got to be so flaky after owning it less than 1 1/2 yrs…
Anyone else experience such bizarreness from their Garmin 205? Do I give up? It’s hard to convince myself to invest in the 405 when the 205 lasted so short a period of time!
