I have cadence sensors on both road and tri bikes, but cannot get a cadence reading on the road bike. Re-synching has not worked, any ideas on how to fix the problem?
battery?
Put a new battery in and still nothing.
Can the 305 sync to multiple bike sensors? I’m not sure of that, it could be like a cheap bluetooth where you can only connect it to one.
Good luck
My Edge 305 is a little stubborn when it comes to the cadence sensor. I’ve found that if i reinstall the unit software (even if I’m running the current version) it becomes more reliable for a bit.
Good luck,

Battery or bad sensor. The fact that you have two means you can rule out the
watch pretty quick.

Don’t mean to hijack my own thread, but I am finding more and more elements of this HRM that I do not like.
Battery charging
Cadence sensors
software
Satellite linking
I do like that it is Mac compatible though.
Have you checked out Garmin Connect for downloading data. I started using it yesterday and I am impressed.
Has it ever worked?
I assume you know it can’t register both sensor at once, right?
I’ve found when switching between two sensors on different bikes that I have to do the following procedure:
- Turn cadence off
- Make sure new bike is only one nearby (25ft at least. More is better)
- Turn cadence on
- Rescan
- Spin pedals quickly enough to register a realistic cadence
- Exit to front screen to verify display
Hope that helps.
Sometimes, and we cannot really work out why, it is a little problematic getting the unit to detect the cadence sensor when changing between bikes. As DPM has indicated, a process as detailed by him often works, but can sometimes take a couple of goes.
As to your other ‘issues’. Firstly realise it is not a heart rate monitor, it is a wrist mounted training computer.
What is the issue with the battery charging? Plug it in to a USB port or charger, and away it goes. Granted battery life is on the low side, but that has now, apparently been addressed with the 310XT.
Training Centre software is crap but useful for creating and loading workouts to the unit. Otherwise for Mac compatible consider Ascent, iSmartTrain, or RubiTracks. Better still, dual boot into Windows and use SportTracks.
For the satellite slow locking try clearing the satellite cache, by pressing the Power on button with the Down Arrow button when switching on.
Most problems can be resolved by doing a soft reset by pressing Lap and Mode togeher. No data is lost. Reccomended as the first solution to any device quirks (failure to turn on for example).
I have sensors on both bikes and it works fine. Are you using the bike profiles?
I have not set that up I’ll give it a try.
