Garmin Forerunner 50/305 foot pod question

Howdy,

Can you use the foot pod from the Garmin Forerunner 50 on the Garmin Forerunner 305? From poking around on the garmin site, this looks to be the case, but I thought that I would ask anyway. For those that use it, can you monitor foot cadence/turnover on the 305 as you are running with the GPS on? The reason I ask, is that buying a Forerunner 50 w/ foot pod is cheaper than buying the foot pod itself!

Yes, the footpods are interchangeable. And yes, you can view footpod cadence data while the GPS is active. Buying a fr50 for that reason sounds like a good deal. Might want to check and make sure you are getting the most recent version of the footpod which is quite a bit smaller and more streamlined than the initial model. I’m pretty sure all the 50s come with the smaller one, but thought it worth mentioning.
