Garmin customer service (4)

My 935 had been giving false elevation readings on runs for last week or so. Called customer service and they walked me thru a couple of troubleshooting steps still no luck. They started RMA process and sending me a new watch in the mail second day shipping. Don’t have to send old 935 back until new one arrives and setup and working. Just wanted to to give a thumbs up to garmin customer service for providing great customer service which is hard to find these days

Depends on the product you have to replace, and where you live, I guess.
I’m still waiting for my replacement Vector 3’s and it’s been more than two months, still “back order” on them apparently.

Louis

When i had to return my 935 for a temperature problem last February they charged me 50% of retail then refunded it when i sent the old watch back.

I just had to send my brand new 945 back because of a battery issue and they did it like you described. No charge at all this time.

Had the same experience today with my 920xt. Was thinking about switching and giving POLAR a shot but after my awesome experience today, I’ll stick with Garmin for my next multisport watch need!

you’re lucky.
i also had my 935 barometer die. after a few weeks of pointless email exchanges i finally got hold of them on the phone (nz customer service is run out of australia and they end up being available only a few useful hours a day). after finally taking my issue seriously and some quick diagnosis, they acknowledged that it was faulty and agreed to replace it. however i had to send in my watch, wait for them to mess about for a week or so, to receive a reconditioned unit after being without a watch for at least 10 days.

the reconditioned unit looks as good as new and has been going fine for 6 months now but i’m really worried that i’ve potentially actually now got an older unit than i started with which may be just good enough to get me through to the end of the warranty period

to be fair, garmin support is still far better than fitbit but thats setting a low bar…

Garmin doesn’t advertise it, but (in the US anyway) they are willing to bill you for the replacement unit they send out and then credit you back once you return your device. I’ve done this so I don’t go without a watch/meter as you describe. My replacements have always been after the warranty ran out and the refurbished replacement was typically $99 to me. But in one or two cases they noted how long I’ve been using Garmin products and how many I’ve had so they waived the out of warranty fee.

On my 920XT I did end up with a refurbished unit that I guessed was older than what I returned because the screen colors were much less dynamic. Haven’t had this happen with other products yet.

that seems reasonable but was certainly not available for me - i made quite a point of how annoyed i was to be left without my device because of what they had acknowledged to be a fault with their hardware and it was mae clear to me that this was the only way they would do anything. i even pointed out that i bought the 935 because they had declined to provide any worthwhile support when my 920 died while still relatively young…

They are even better when you live in KC and can walk your watch into the customer service desk. They run diagnostic right there and help you out. It’s tempting though bc as they do their work you get to look at all their watches and computers
