Garmin buys out Dynastream

Stumbled on it quite by accident when trying to find software for my nike triax watch. Dynastream makes the accelerometers used in the nike, polar and quite possibly the special garmin inertial sensor that they have. They also pride themselves on a protocol for all these pieces to talk to each other.

The news says that they will conitnue to operate independently, but how willing will garmin be to let a subsidiary sell technology to competing companies? We’ll see I guess.

P.S. yes I realize that the garmin forerunners use gps but they also have inertial speed sensors for use on a treadmill.
