Garmin 301 technical question

My current polar heart rate monitor’s battery has gone dead in the watch - and I assume the transmitter as well - I haven’t used it in over a year since the watch went dead. Rather than cough up the money to get the watch battery and heart band replaced (approximately $60) on an $80 system, I am considering the 301 for a major upgrade.
Are the batteries replaceable on the Garmin 301 transmitter and reciever? If so, how much does it cost to do so?

Thanks.

Wrist unit batteries are rechargeable, probably not replacable without a factory service. HRM bat is replaceable. The charge on the wrist unit is good for 13 hours, so you need to be prety quick if you use it at an IM.

The chest transmitter battery is a very common watch/bike computer battery (CR2032) available at almost any bike shop or drugstore for a few bucks. It takes a few seconds to replace.

I will never buy or recommend another Polar product for the reasons you stated.

tvnav.com had the best price online for the 301. You can also download the new multi sport softwhere from garmin.com for use in triathlon. The 301 with motionbased is great.

The Garmin 301 is great. Walmart has the best prices I’ve found – something like $204. Unfortunately I just checked the website and lo and behold they are sold out. They also ship to APO addresses if you call them up over the phone.
