Garage organization

With 12 bikes sitting the garage, I am in serious need of ideas for organizing the “bike bay” (our 3rd car bay of our garage). We have 3 bikes for little kids (2 with training wheels), 5 mountain bikes, and 4 road bikes (including my tri bike). Our biggest problem is that the ceiling in the garage is 15 feet tall, so a hanging beam might be tough to pull off. Any help/pics would be greatly appreciated!!!

Our garage ceiling goes from about 9-20 feet. In most that space we have a hanging attic storage. From the joists on that I have hooks to hang four bikes by the wheels. Cars and SUV’s fit under bikes as they hang just above the garage door height.
Commercially sold hanging garage storage racks would work the same.

I am a firm believer in hanging bikes from the ceiling. A high ceiling is better than a low ceiling. Is the ceiling finished or unfinished, flat or pitched? Pics?

I only have 4 bikes but this would also work for more. I made a DIY version of this rack with some shelf and rod support brackets, a piece of pipe, some Husky Hang-alls, and some wood, and some 2" rings. I still wish i had larger rings to clip the hang-alls into just to make it a bit easier but I have not needed that enough to go buy them after a year or so. I will see if I can get some pictures posted but if you google “Husky hang all bike rack” you will find some.

I look forward to having this problem! Just 3 bikes in ours, 2 are mine and 1 is my wife’s…need more!

I set up a system like this in my past house with a tall garage.

“Good” is that it keeps MTN bikes upright (good for no bubbles in brakes)… but “Bad” in that it involves some rope work before/after each ride.
