Gait analysis/orthotics in Denver/Boulder?

I need to go orthotic shopping. Does anyone have any recommendations in the Denver/Boulder area ?

background: Hurt a muscle in my calf in the last race, rested it for two weeks, but then within a mile of trying to run, hideous pain in the calf, and hopped home. Doctor says 6 weeks without running… lucky I can still bike and swim. As best I can tell it’s the flexor hallucis longus, pain occurs only when running. It appears to be associated with the pushoff from the toes. I suspect that I’ve been compensating for a neuroma in that foot by overusing the big toe with consequent results up the chain of motion…

The last orthotics I got for the neuroma were expensive and close to useless: when I took them back the so-called doctor wanted to give me cortisone shots, so I abandoned him. I’ve been managing the pain by using small inserts of orthopaedic foam glued to the bottom of the insole, but it doesn’t seem to be working anymore. Bah.

Go see Mark Plaatjes in Boulder. His insights as an endurance athlete are invaluable.

He, single handedly, has brought me back from the grave atheltically. Contact him immediately at In-Motion Rehabilitation: 303-247-0687. Whether you talk to Mark or his receptionist, insist that Kevin Severson said that it was important.

Cheers.
