G3 powertap problems

Has anyone had an issue with a brand new G3 registering speed, miles, time, HR but Watts stuck at 1,2 or 3? I have updated all the firmware, but no luck. The Powertap representative I spoke with had no suggestions.

The G3 is a hub and sending unit so what head unit are you using - Joule, Garmin or something else?

Joule. I have another hub, an older one on a training wheel and it works fine.

A lot of good info in this thread http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=3161009; but in general, replace batteries in hub (even if it is new, the batteries may have been on a shelf for years), zero out the hub in the head unit. If all else fails warranty it if you can.

Second the recommendation to replace battery and ask another question: What does your end cap look like on the G3? I had some problems with mine and the LBS replaced the cap (has a textured surface) and battery - said it was Powertap’s solution to short battery life. Good luck

Thanks! I actually had to do the firmware update several times as the first two times, it just wiped the data. I eventually got the right firmware on it and replaced the battery and it now works. I was also spinning the cranks went going to manual zero which I didn’t realize was the wrong way to do it. Thanks!

Yeah, one of my early rides with my PTG3 it was telling me thousands of watts for spinning down the parking lot (I wish). Removed the battery for a moment and all was well. Try that.
