From a good source, looks like there is a possiblity of an IM in NYC as early as August 2006.

Knowing that successful IM are all held in small towns, I really don’t see why they would hold an IM in NYC?

Uh yes, it was an April Fool’s joke…
I figured…on april 1st, there was a fake website for IM Paris, with the bike around “Bois de Vincennes” etc…and the funniest was the entry fees set at 50 euros

Yeah I hear ya Francois and Smitty - I can certainly understand the cynicism but from what I know they are looking at starting the swim on Liberty Island either up the east or Hudson River. The bike is a challenge and has not from my knowledge been nailed down yet. I know considerations are being given to having it go over the GWB into NJ and back. The run will be the original NYC marathon course in CP.
The April 1st website actually help the cause for IM NYC from what I was told a lot of peeps called to try to register.
But then again the whole thing might also fall through.

Shutting down the roads in NYC for an IM triathlon? No…I can’t see that happening.
This was an April Fool’s joke perpetrated by some local tri coaches. The author came clean in a subsequent newsletter in the Metro NY area.
The only thing worse than a April fool’s joke is when people try to string it along for days afterward…and then all sorts of Urban Myths start to follow.
