I was watching the tour and one of the commentators metioned that there was a rider of past that used to ride off the front of the pack get out of sight and then hide behind a tree. Then he would get on his bike after they passes and join backup watching them trying to catch him. ha, anyone know the name of that rider?
There are several. I know it happened to Wout Wagtmans once in a slightly different way, He broke away and actually got off the road to take care of business behind a barn. As he went back to the road the farmer stopped him and asked if he was hungry. Wout said yes, the farmer gave him a chicken leg and while Wout was eating the chicken leg in the back of the peloton he asked around why the peloton was riding so fast. Turns out they were chasing him.
