One thing I’ve noticed from being addicted to the dirty secrets thread is that there are a lot of funny stories that people have to tell… Scary ones, too, but a lot of funny ones. So I thought I’d start a thread just to tell random entertaining stories that people can laugh at.
Stories should be true, but of course we can’t check, now can we… But the truth is always funnier…
So here is my contribution…
I was watching OLN or some similar type outdoor channel must have been about 8 years ago now. Was late, late at night. They had this show with this guy who was all about “primitive hunting techniques.” He made his own bows and arrows by hand out of wood, real feathers and such. And he used some poisonous ooze from toad skin to tip the arrows so he could bring down large game. He was in Africa (although I guess it could have been a game ranch where they raise big game) hunting a cape buffalo (I think) with his bow and arrow. He also dressed in like primitive garb (loin cloth, moccassins, etc.) that he had made himself. Anyway, he finally spots this buffalo and shoots it with the arrow. It runs off and he starts talking about how the poison will rapidly bring it down as he follows the tracks. I guess it was some strong stuff, since the thing doesn’t make it too far before collapsing. He walks up to it and starts going into how he is going to skin it and use 100% of the animal for something productive (eat the meat, wear the skin, use the bones, etc.). All of sudden the thing does like a Hollywood-horror movie “last gasp” and like half rears up. Our primitive hunter whips a 9mm out of his little leather “satchel” that he carries and unloads a full magazine into it. Then he looks at the camera and realizes what he has done and explains that although he is committed to primitive hunting techniques, etc., safety is always his utmost concern and that is why he carries the semi-auto with him “just in case.”
I think it is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. If you like, share your own stories; if not, relegate this thread to page two where it will slowly die…
