"Funny" bit about the USAT Grand Prix series

if they don’t kick me out first
.

You’re right - you must fail all of their requirements if you can’t keep secrets from the membership.

Wow! Thanks, Mike!

So it seems that in 2005, many (most?) of these International triathlons where after July 8. Are they all going to move the 2006 events to pre July 8th, or is this a case of the list of qualified athletes is already set?

not sure I quite understand the question Trixy, I’m a bit brain numb right now. It does look like a lot of the events are in July or later. Columbia and St. Anthonys being exceptions. I think that for the most part, they were trying to find a major race in each area and in most cases that happened to be when the race was being held.

I just saying that if the races don’t move to pre-July 8th, then they won’t be qualifiers for the 2006 nationals, unless they retroactively qualify people from the 2005 race.

Or maybe I missed the point. I thought the USAT Grand Prix series was the new feeder series for nationals and assumed (maybe incorrectly), that the 2006 races would get you to the 2006 nationals.

as far as I know, qualifying for Nationals is the same as in the past, any sanctioned race within a 12 month span before Nationals can be used as a qualifyer. Your assumption is not far off base though. THe problem is the timing, when World’s is in late August, that really throws a lot of things off and maybe in the future the Grand Prix series can be used more for what you are talking about.

But I want it to be before July 8th. That’ll be my 45th birthday and I was hoping to race for a worlds slot in “stealth” mode

that was my plan for 2005… oh well. Now I have to race against you as well ? dang.
