Fuel Prices are Driving me out of Triathon

Help, fuel prices are driving me out of triathlon. With fuel skyrocketing I am forced to cut back on driving to most events and my disposable income is steadily shrinking, and even though I make about $50,000 a year I am thinking I might need to pick up another job. This sucks.

Doh!

I drive about 150 miles a day as a sales rep. The mileage reimbursment just isn’t cutting it at $3.09 per gallon here in central ohio.

Why dont you just ride to your events? Save money and train at the same time!

wow… gas prices are even higher in Canada… and I estimate I spend an extra $6 a week on gas now.
Ouch… guess I’ll have to cut out Starbucks twice a week. The sacrifices we have to make. Damn.

Here in Montreal, the liter of gas sells for $1.35 tonight

January 5th it was $0.78 this is an increase of $0.57 in a few months and they saying it’s not over it will hit $1.50 in the next days…

People, may say it’s only going to be $10-20 more per week but the reality is worst everything will go up food, clothing, airplane ticket, taxi trips, pizza delivery, even mowing our grass will be more expensive!!! Everything that need transportation will increase… Sadly but true we will face a recession in the next months… :frowning:

Sell your car. You will have more money and you will be helping to lower gas prices.

$3.39 in Novi, Michigan tonight.

Montreal after converting to gallon and to us dollars.

1 liter gas = 1.34$ cdn

1 gallon = 3.7854 liters

1$ cdn = 0.841232$us

It’s 4.30$us for a gallon…

Pretty much the same price here in Sydney.

Every 15 bicycle commutes=1 tank of gas (20 USG).

Doesn’t take many of these to pay for my event gas. And doubles my training miles. And my wife likes the savings and the additional family time.

When gas gets so expensive that people stop buying lottery tickets and bottled water and other crap they waste; then I’ll be impressed.

Buy a moped.

Yesterday gas was $2.77 in my town. Today it was $2.97. Damn I should have refilled yesterday.

Yep. You need another job. Or a more spartan approach to life in general.

After all the fuel reserves are gone, i am wondering what all the big semis will do to transport goods. Same as the airlines. Will they use hydrogen as well? I think this is the only answer and i cant understand why the government doesnt helpt o push this movement towards hydrogen power. No emissions no worries no dependancy on foreign oil.

this movement towards hydrogen power. No emissions no worries no dependancy on foreign oil.

umm… how do you think we get they hydrogen for hydrogen power? fairy dust? praying real hard?

Electolysis of water through nuclear, solar and wind energy.

Nuclear is an excellent source of energy, you would never need to refuel your car… Main problem how would you dispose nuclear waste???

simple, just carry the waste in the trunk of your nuclear powered car.

the true “pinto” of the 21st century!
