FSA cranks and chain ring or Dur-ace?

Well I am planning on changing my Cervelo P2K, I really like the New Dur-ace cranks and the TT chain ring set up. But I already am running ultegra so not sure how much of a up-grade(weight) it is. The other option was the FSA carbon cranks and there TT chain rings. Very sweet looking but are they GOOD?

Any body have thoughts or opinions?

thanks,

Trevor

What year ultegra are you running? Is it the U10 with the outboard bearings? From what information you have given it looks like you are doing an upgrade for aesthetic reasons. If that is the case just go with the crank you think looks the best. I would suggest that you dont do an FSA crank with the Isis bottom bracket. Mine creaks on me where my older ultegra did not.

I would only go with the DA if everything else on the bike is DA gruppo. The FSA carbon cranks look very nice, and I think they might match the brake calipers better on a P2K, assuming they are the black ones. However, with FSA you also have the option of going with a compact.

I am running with a FSA Carbon Crank with a 55t TT chain ring and a DA 10sp in the back on my new QR caliente. It is by far the sweetest set up I have ever had on a bike, quick response and smooth shifts and they do look great on the bike with the FSA aero system, also very light. i would recomend them without a second thought.

Using the Carbon Pro Team with the TT ring. Looks way better, but the performance (stiffness/feel) is not a noticeable difference over the stock Gossamer IMO. No probs with the setup but I don’t care for the isis bb (my 105 was smoother). The carbon pros are about 100+ grams lighter but once you slap on that big ring you prety much negate any savings. Aestheically it’s a beast (the black ring looks fierce).

DA with the external bearings are supposed to be stiffer but I have not used them and probably wouldn’t know the difference anyway. If it is smoother (heard really good things about it) I would go with the DA.

Get the DA. Rode FSA carbon and alu. I’d prefer the DA if I could hammer like LA. Seemed stiffer.

If you’re changing from the Ultegra 10 then I’d say your nuts and just keep what you have. If you have Ultegra 9 then go for the good stuff and get DA10. Plus with DA10 you won’t have to buy pesky installation tool like you will with the FSA. I love my DA10 although I can’t tell much difference from any other crank I’ve ever used… Sure is easy to take apart though!
