Guys, I am interested in putting compact cranks on my Kestrel for IM Lanzarote. Would I need to replace my Campag Chorus derailleurs, or can I rung with them and a new chain?
You shouldn’t have to replace ders. with any compact crank. What I had to do was lower my front der. a bit to accomodate the smaller 50 tooth ring. Assuming that the Kestrel has a braze on rather than clamp on style der. hanger, just be sure that it allows enough adjustment for this.
What Cerveloguy said is on the mark. I put FSA’s on both of my bikes and you will need to adjust the front der. down to make it shift properly.
Also as you said I put a new chain on as well it really helped put. I have really enjoyed the cranks. Would strongly advise getting some training miles in to de-bug the shifting etc. and getting used to a higher cadence.
