FS: Zipp Super 9 tubular disc

Zipp Super 9 tubular disc wheel w/ a Bontrager XXX tubular tire mounted.

Wheel (and tire) have been used half a dozen times, both in immaculate condition. (Note the Dura Ace 10-speed cassette pictured is not included - can include for an extra charge.)

Not doing enough time trials to justify having it sitting in a wheel bag collecting dust. This is an excellent wheel for time trials and triathlons (look it up to find out more details about the wheel).

Asking $1100 (new $2075). Does not include shipping (which would likely be about $30-$50 with insurance). NOW ASKING $1000.

In case more convincing is needed that this is an awesome wheel, here is what Zipp says: “Originally intended for time trials, track racing and the occasional Tour de France® prologue, the Super-9 also has become a favorite among Ironman®-distance and 70.3-distance athletes. It’s the wheel that Marino Van Hoenacker chose en route to the fastest Ironman race time ever at Ironman® Austria. The Super-9 is the all-around rocket that will outclass any other disc we’ve tested, even with 23 mm tires.”

Any interest in trading for a Cervelo S2 Frameset?

Thanks for the trade offer, but I am only interested in selling the disc.

It’s an awesome wheel, you will be much faster with it!

Really want to sell the disc, so dropping the price to $1000; that is over 50% for essentially a new wheel!

2015 bump - I know it’s only January, but the racing season will be here again before you know it!

Does this have the 188 freehub? I am possibly interested, but I’d have to convert it to Campy.

It has a 182 free hub (only the new 11-speed ready Super 9 discs have the 188 free hub, and that started with the 2013 model year). You can get a Campy 182 free hub to swap out and it will work with Campy 11-speed (assuming that is what you are interested in).

Let me know if you are still interested.

I must admit to finding the twists and turns in Zipp’s product history difficult to police at the best of times; this page

http://www.zipp.com/support/identify/discs.php

suggests that the Super 9 has the 188 freehub (the Sub 9, as I read it, has the 182 freehub).

I actually called Zipp as I also found the hub history page a bit confusing, and my last reply was straight from a Zipp technical support person.

Sorry for another reply, but decided to check with Zipp again and the support person said it is actually a 188 free hub (10-speed version).

FYI, I have the same disc and let me tell you I got my bike store to machine an eleven speed Ultegra cassette and it works flawlessly! I didn’t want to get another disc since I just got a P5 from my wife and daughter for my birthday so my dealer asked me to Bing in my bike with wheels, they machined a new cassette, we slapped it on and it’s been 1000 km that I’ve put on and still works perfectly.

Any questions just email me… It’s easier that way.

Thanks for the info.

Still for sale? What year is it? I do ride Campy 11 and not much in to the fun of machining parts to make them compatible. Is it a matter of just buying a new free hub?
Andy

Wheel is sold, thanks for your interest.
