after Eagleman, my racing wheelset will be up for sale. I’m shifting focus to more road racing and really hilly triathlons and want a wheelset that is more compatible to those pursuits. I can’t afford two wheelsets so this one will have to go to finance the next purchase… I’m keeping these wheels for a final race at Eagleman though… That being said, they raced me to a top 10 position in the solo male category at the hilly Triple-T race this weekend (5th going into the final race… no final results posted yet)
about the wheels:
front hed 3 clincher: less than 500 miles (probably less than 350 actually). runs straight. never had any problems. purchased in 2007 for IM Florida and seldom used for a few races since. only racing, no training.
rear: renn 575. good wheel. clincher. same mileage as hed 3 (maybe a little less, actually). I am a bit heavy (160-170 depending on the season) and I do manage to flex this wheel a bit, especially when riding out of the saddle. If you spin it on a stand, it is pretty much dead-on true. I think this is true of all the 575 wheels. I am a pretty strong cyclist and I’m guessing a lighter cyclist who puts out fewer watts would not be able to flex this wheel at all.
PM me if you are interested with an offer. I will so some research on pricing over the next couple weeks but right now I don’t know what they go for…
When you come up with an asking price, let me know, I am interested in the H3 front mainly but would consider the pair if priced right. I’ll be at Eagleman so logistics would be simplified (cash & carry) as long as you are willing to wait around until I finish!
sorry for the delay. If you are still interested I do have the disc and tri spoke, I will post pictures today. Got a little distracted with ironman LP preparations. They haven’t been used since Eagleman, and the same description applies as before. If will take offers over the next few days and then go to ebay if I can’t make a deal.
Edit: A quick not to say thank you for the legit offers that people gave me. I got a lot of messages and a few really solid offers that if we were face to face with cash I would take in a heart beat. I also got a lot of too good to be true offers from people newly registered on slowtwitch. I don’t want to say anyone was trying to scam me, but it made me very nervous about loosing a chunk of money I could not afford to loose, so I put them up on ebay, which I feel is more secure. You may get the wheel for cheaper than you offered me, so take a look if you are interested still. Sorry if I offended anyone by posting here then going to ebay, as some have told me that is a violation of slowtwitch etiquette.
I removed the links. I apologize for not reading the new contract carefully enough. I have been on ST since 2004, and have bought and sold more stuff than I can remember, both face to face and over the net. From wheels to a Vasa Trainer to simple things like cranksets. In fact, when I started buying and selling there was no contract, and ebay links were commonplace.
Not to be nostalgic, but back then slowtwitch was more of a community with people you knew and trusted and met up with at races and shared rides with to out of town events etc. Now I get tons of PMs from new members, (just like on ebay I get 10 messages a day asking to ship to foreign countries!?!!?!?! - is that normal???) Don’t I have a right to be worried?
Anyway, you could have sent me a PM saying “the contract says no ebay links” and I would be more than happy to comply. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. The contract does not say you the seller must name a specific price, not having time to do market research I’m pretty sure it was fair of me to ask for best offers.
