FS: Mint 2006 Specialized Ruby Pro with full Dura-Ace, size 48 (pics)

Bike History

This posting is for my **Specialized Ruby Pro carbon road bicycle. It was purchased brand new from an authorized dealer in 2006, and since then I’ve put about 1000 miles on it each summer, so the bike has approximately 3000 **miles total on it. I have never crashed nor abused it in any way, and I had it serviced regularly at the local bike shop. The bike has been used only on well-paved roads for easy casual riding such as charity events. I am a petite female, so the stress on the frame and wheels has been minimal.

Bike Model Information

If you are reading this, chances are you know exactly what you are looking at, but just in case you don’t: The Ruby Pro** is one of Specialized’s flagship road racing bikes designed specifically for women. It is currently used by several teams on the women’s professional road racing circuit. It is extremely light and also quite stiff for optimal power transfer, but not too stiff as to be harsh on the body. Thanks to the proprietary Zertz vibration-absorbing inserts and the female-specific geometry, the bike offers outstanding comfort** on long rides; I’ve done several centuries on it! As for components, it is equipped with a full Dura-Ace group, unlike the more recent models (where the components have been watered down). Overall, the Ruby is consistently ranked as one of the top road bikes for women. Have a look at the stellar user reviews of the 2006 Ruby Comp at http://www.roadbikereview.com/cat/latest-bikes/road-bike/specialized/PRD_379636_5668crx.aspx (the site, RoadBikeReview.com, is a leading on-line cycling forum). The Ruby Pro, a step above the Comp in the Specialized’s lineup, is even better!

Geometry and Pictures

Geometry is here: http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?arc=2006&sid=06Ruby.
Pictures of the actual bike are here: http://picasaweb.google.com/TheFlyingCzech/2006SpecializedRubyPro#.

Condition

As the pictures hopefully convey, this bike is functionally flawless (can be raced out of the box) and in very good cosmetic condition. There are some very minor cosmetic imperfections from regular use: light scuffs on crank arms, rear derailleur, and left shifter, and also a few tiny clear-coat chips from road debris on chain and seat stays. You have to look really closely to see these, though. The frameset has been cleaned and polished using Pedro’s Bike Lust and has a nice deep luster. Likewise the **wheels have been checked **(roundness, trueness, spoke tension, dish, and bearings), but require no service as they are bombproof.

Price and Terms of Sale

I bought the bicycle for $4000, and the new 2009 Ruby Pro Dura-Ace retails for $5500. My asking price is $2299 OBO! I would prefer to sell it locally (in Maine), but if you need me to ship it to you, I’d be happy to box it up, take it to the UPS or FedEx counter, and let you know the actual postage so that you can reimburse me. (Shipping is not included in the asking price**.)**

Thank you for looking, and if you have any questions or would like to purchase the bike, please don’t hesitate to contact me at winmaine@roadrunner.com or 207-692-4240.
