FS: Ciclosport HAC 4 Plus Computer - $125 - HR, Power, Alt

After buying a Garmin Forerunner 305 for my running, I have found that it is easier to use one unit for all of my workouts, and the Garmin is it. So after a few years of faithful service I’m selling my Ciclosport HAC 4 Plus computer. This unit does it all: all of the normal cycling functions, altitude, heartrate, power (estimated, but pretty accurate on the flats or with a slight rise)… The full list of features is below.

The unit is in good shape and includes the computer connection and software with registration codes that allow you to download the latest versions. The computer connection is serial-based, but I am including a Belkin USB adapter that I have had no problems using with Windows XP Pro.

Price is $125, PayPal only, shipped USPS Priority Mail anywhere in the US, $135 to get it to Mexico or Canada.

Please PM me for pictures or with any questions.

A full description of the unit can be found here.

How does this computer calculate power?

It is interpolated using known factors like rider and equipment weight (you enter these), speed, and grade of the road. While obviously not as accurate as something like a PowerTap or SRM that measures actual output, it gives reasonable results on flat or uphill routes.

I found that it was pretty consistent from one ride to the next and could give reasonable results for a comparison basis. However, I wouldn’t use the unit’s power readings for a complex power-based training plan as you can do with systems that accurately measure actual power. For this price, you really can’t go wrong though!
