Received today what appears to be a take-off with a few scratches and some dirt in the cracks in a box.
Yeah…there’s alot of that on here. People must not know what “NEW” means. (Hin: A take off is def NOT new!) I’m finding they don’t know what “mint” means either.

I don’t understand your frustration when the DA front derailleur was $50.00 only for you. So be it it was a take-off from a demo bike, a few scratches and dirt in the crack of the box? That should be the least of your worries because a derailleur will get scratched no matter what. It’s a box with some dirt.
For the record, I will ADMIT that I assumed the Dura-Ace Front Derailleur was brand new because it was in the box and my mistake was not to examine the box. I trusted my friend and he said it was brand new and to sell it because he couldn’t use it on his Cannondale frame. You have a Dura-Ace front derailleur for only $50.00. This was a fair deal because I gave you free shipping and I was deducted Paypal fees.

It’s a take off. It’s not brand new. It has marks where a chain hit it. It has scratches from being installed and rubbed against. It has dirt in the cracks (of the derailleur clamp, spring, etc. – not of the box you sent it in – not sure why that would be relevant). The issue is not whether the price would have been fair for a take off. The issue is that you overstated its quality, have admitted as much, and are only willing to offer as consolation that you still think it’s a pretty good deal. I’m moving on with my life now.

Amazing. New is new, but for the ones that misunrderstand used for new, there is the concept of “brand new”. Brand new, no-one can misunderstand. Or so I thought.
I’m sure Ed’s friend will realize the mistake, do the right thing and pay for your shipping back or credit you the same amount.
