Front vs. rear wheel sensor mount - in terms of aerodynamics

Yeah, damn…that thing is probably costing you 2 or 3 milliseconds over 100K.

And when you upgrade, make sure you get the Kevlar zip ties too. Those regular plastic ones are too heavy.

Yes, get the rear-mounted model and keep the wires clean on the trailing edge of whatever tubes it runs down.
You could also spend some extra $$ for something like the VDO C3 double wireless. $90 @ Performance I believe.

Not necessarily for aero reasons, but having the sensor on the rear helps if you spend any significant time on the trainer.

I would be very surprised if the placement of a speed sensor had any measurable impact on speed.

I didn’t say that it did, only that it may be more useful on the rear for trainer purposes. I don’t think aero wise it would amount to much more than holding your pinky up in the air like a tea-sipper.

Sorry about all the sarcasm, I wasn’t thinking about all the wiring.
Fiddles has a good point on the rear wheel mount for trainers. And it reminded me of a lesson learned…
I bought a cheapo Ascent wireless for my road bike specifically so it would work on the trainer but not have a wire running all the way back there. Got it all zip-tied up only to find out that it didn’t have the range. WTF?
