From NPR - "The Mystery of Global Warming's Missing Heat"

Only NPR could cover this story on Global Warming this way. Scientists sent some 3,000 robots into the ocean to measure ocean temps. The result? The oceans haven’t warmed at all. In fact they have cooled slightly. But don’t worry, NPR is there to explain away this mystery.

This is not first article that I have read that indicates we need to learn more about this phenomena. It does not make sense to me why the world government crowd is in such a rush to do something about Global Warming when so much is not understood.

I’m sorry, but I can’t listen to this at work right now. But did they say at what depths they were recording the temperatures?

It did not detail the protocol but it stated the buoys can dive to a depth of 3,000 feet.

It goes beyond global warning. We are currently transforming the Earth into a big trash and very few people think about future generations. I am not saying we should all be back living in caverns with no electricity, etc… but something needs to be done so be pay more attention. Call it global warning, green, etc… does not really mater. Also keep in mind that rush @ gvt level is @ least 5/10 years away.

Fred.

One concern I would have with the original report is that the average depth of the oceans is 13,700 feet, so while the probes can descend to 3,000 feet, they are still looking at less than 25% of the total volume. That said, I don’t see how the lower depths would warm up before the upper levels.

I ran across this article related to my original post - “Climate facts to warm to” (http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,23411799-7583,00.html).

The result? The oceans haven’t warmed at all.

B…b…b…but look at everything caused by global warming!

That is an extensive list! I’m going to have review all of them …

Oh but don’t worry, “the long-term trend is still intact.”

WTF
.

data from the probes is “since 2003”. and 2003 to the present is one very very tiny window.

what i want to see is the data from 1903 to 2003.

in any case, for the climate, nothing is a certainty.

but when something becomes a certainty, it’ll be too late …

Land temperatures have risen, but they are not being matched by an expected rise in water temperature. Scientists, being scientists, are theorizing on why the measurements are different than expected. First, make sure the measurements and analysis are accurate. Then, look for other problems in the process. Then, look for outside influences. The fact is that the sea level has risen half an inch since 2003. The expectation was that it was due to increased temperature of the water as well as melted glaciers. That sea temperatures haven’t risen leads to an eye raising thought that the glaciers are melting faster than we realized.

NPR isn’t explaining away the mystery, they are reporting on the information in a balanced way as described above. Would you have expected NPR to report on the lack of sea temperature rise and declare that global warming is a hoax?
