From LG Chrono to Spiuk Kronos - any data?

I’ve been racing in the LG Chrono. I bought it for a number of reasons…

  1. It was inexpensive.
  2. It seemed to offer a decent performance increase over a standard road helmet.
  3. It wasn’t as “dorky” looking or heavy as the full aero helmets (Rocket, etc.)
  4. It didn’t create any whistling in my ears when I tested it.
  5. And, last but not least, the silver matched my bike!

However, I can’t help by feel like maybe I’m still leaving a little “free speed” on the table and am considering making the switch to a Spiuk Kronos.

Has anyone seen any data or have any first-hand experience for what such a switch will bring over, say, a 40K time trial?

NOTE: I do know that aero helmets react differently to differently to different positions and that the Chrono could possibly be a faster helmet for my position than the Kronos. But, not having access to a wind tunnel, I’ll have to play the averages.

OK. So, no hard data.

Any of you aero gurus care to hazard a guess for what difference I can expect to see with the switch?

Thanks.

Steve

Steve,
There was a “mythbusters” style test done to determine drag numbers on various helmets…it’s here on the forum somewhere…

Found a link for you…

Thanks, Paul. I saw that. It’s one of the things that got me interested in the Spiuk to begin with. Unfortunately, he didn’t test the Chrono. I assume it would fall toward the bottom of the list, but it’d be nice to find someone that’s actually tried both.
