Is this the best rivalry since Scott/Allen? The respect these athletes have for each other and the desire to have them on their best day when they compete is awesome to see.
Seeing Frodeno stop in T2 to check on Kienle and make sure he was good to go in the middle of the race is a rare sight.
Adding in Sanders here as well as I feel Frodeno and Kienle want him on his best day just as much as he wants both of them.
Hoping they both can get adequate recovery from yesterday and prep well for Kona. Hopefully we can get Lange a bit more fresh and Sanders at whatever he can get himself at (if he qualifies).

Agree this is great to see. All these guys seem to have respect for each other. They will all need each other to distance from Lange in Kona. I don’t think any of them like Lange’s racing style. Frodo was pretty clear about that during last year’s Kona. I need to book my trip to the big Island to take this all in!

Hmmm…I agree that apples to apples, ie both having good days, I don’t think sanders can beat frodo right now.
But Kienle, well, Sanders has beaten him in several races, including Kona 2017, so…

Are you high? Frodo just swam sub 50. Sanders stands no chance when Frodo is healthy.

I think Sanders wants to face Frodo when big at their best. Not sure either of them really care about racing Sanders though. I think they both care much more about Lange. It’s not like Lionel has been cleaning up at the biggest stage like they have…
For there to be a rivalry I would say Lionel would need more than 1 podium at a world championship (not countinglong course ITU since competition is more watered down than the above races and if you want to talk Challenge races, Roth is more of a championship than Samora in terms of high end competition). Lionel is very good, don’t get me wrong. And I find him interesting and think he’s good for the sport. But that 2017 race really does seem like an outlier and not sure he’ll ever get back to that level

I don’t see Kienle as Frodo’s biggest threat in Kona. More like Lange or even Brownlee. And although I’m a Sanders fan, I don’t think he’ll podium in Kona again. His swim and run aren’t strong enough. And the competition at the moment, is the strongest it’s been in years.
Nope, you just didn’t understand the context of what I brought Sanders into the discussion for. I never said his results are the same of Kienle/Frodeno. I simply said he is part of the rivalry of each wanting them in their best day.

Guessing you didn’t hear what happened to Lange
Yeah, but Lange always has something go wrong in non Kona races where there is no train of peers to pace off. When he’s on his own, he is not able to step up to perform. He needs a group on the bike to unleash the run. Nothing as stopping him from putting the hammer down after a flat. it’s only 3 minutes to change a flat and Frodo only ran 2:45. Lange can run 2:39, so it appears he chose to not compete and save himself for Kona. Kienle on the other hand has surgery done in T2, loses some time and still hammers it all the way to the finish. Lange’s flat is a lot easier to recover from than having a glass removed by medical from the bottom of the foot as was the case of Kienle. So who gets more respect?
mins 1 - 3, scratching his head, looking up at the sky, perhaps visualising he was a bird
min 4 - prodding the tyre at random spots hoping his finger will miraculously inflate the tyre (it didn’t)
