Friend who is 6'4 just bought a 60cm trek oclv

my friend is brand new to the sport, wanted to buy a frame and build up a bike…his inseam is like 35-36 he claims(not sure if he even measured it right) but he called me to say how stoked he was on his purchase…is he screwed with a 60cm or can he make it work?

i wanna be stoked for him and help him build up the rest of it. im only 5’9" so dealing with bikes that big is foreign to me. any help before we get to deep into building this thing up…

How is he screwed? At 6’4" a 60 should be fine. is this a tri or road bike?

A 60cm Trek road bike seems perfect size, assuming it fits him…at 6ft 4 that’s what I would ride…but not in a TTX, as a Large fits me better.

Boy, you little people…jeez!!!

Im 6’ 3 and I just bought a 59 Gary Fisher, a 60 should be fine. I also ride a 58 road bike and tri bike.

If he’s looking to purchase a Trek TTX 9.5 I’ve got the perfect bike for him. I to am 6’4" tall and it fits me like a glove. The bike is a Large.

Bruce Gennari

That should fit him fine. That’s what I have, at 6’4". he will probably have a lot of seat post showing and a big drop to the bars, but it should not be uncomfortable.

He and I are same height/ same inseam … I’ve ridden a 60 for years … perfect fit.
Dave

thank you everyone.

now i get to pretend this is my bike and piece it together!

Im 6’3" and ride a 58
.

I’m 6’4" and ride a 60 cm trek road bike. I had a professional fit and even ended up with the stock stem length after some trial and error.

I’m 6’ 5" and ride a 60cm Madone. Fits me very well.

With that inseam, he seems on the leggy side, meaning shorter torso. The higher the seat, the longer the cockpit.

Could be its on the big side.

6’6" ride a 61 lemond and 61 p2c. He should be fine.

Edit: more info

inseam 36-37

TT on lemond is 605

stem 120

p2c stem 100

Overall height without proportions known is an insufficient indicator of needed bike size.

At 6’3" I ride a 61cm, and need a longer stem. With inseam of 33.5, I am all torso length
