More accurate and updated information on Cory…From Gayle

Subject: Cory Horton accident

First I apologize to anyone getting duplicates and triplicates of this
message.

So here’s the scoop as I know it as of 11 PM. I have two stories - one says
he was on his bike, the other says he was on the side of the road.
Regardless, he went under the rear tires of an 80 foot long land leveler and
was dragged under it for a while. It was witnessed by several people. The
guy that did it didn’t know anything happened. Cory was awake at the scene,
lost consciousness in the air and arrested in flight and got here with
people doing CPR. He came back fairly quickly (with the magic that we
perform at the trauma center). Anyway, he quickly went to the OR and had
his spleen removed. He broke an ankle, a femur, all his ribs, a collarbone,
both shoulder blades and has numerous spine injuries, some of which are
significant. His lungs are badly bruised. The worst part is his head. His
first CT scan was OK but the latest shows several bleeds in his brain. He
also probably suffered from lack of oxygen to his brain. We are placing all
kinds of invasive monitors to
watch his volume status, his oxygen, the pressure in his brain, etc. A
million (so it seems) people are here, but obviously visits are limited to
family and some really close friends. This will be a painful vigil for
Terry and the rest of Cory’s family (his brother is here and his sister
should get here around 1 or 2 AM). I am sure that they would appreciate any
visits to talk to them, and if you feel like bringing food or beverages, I
am sure that they can use them. Otherwise send your thoughts and prayers.
And if you feel like donating blood - go for it.

Gayle

Will do.

Yes, I will.

You got it.

I JUST got back in from surgery for a through and through GSW to the left chest of a teenager. Lucky son-of-a-gun…he’ll only lose a lobe of lung…missed everything else vital over on that side. All this stuff makes me glad to be healthy and alive today.

Consider him in my thoughts and best wishes for a positive outcome.
