The bill was a compromise as are most bills that are signed into law. Nice try. Now, are you going to admit that Clinton always wanted to sign a welfare reform bill and that the Republicans had to agree to his terms in order to get one enacted into law. How about agreeing that the Republicans didn’t have the votes to over ride his two vetos. Maybe you will agree that Clinton caught hell from his party for signing the Welfare Reform bill. Surely you will admit that in the subsequent years the Republicans watered down their own welfare plan in order to cater to the public. Pick the one you want to agree with.
