Fried Hip Flexors

I’ve noticed that towards the middle-end of long rides my hip flexors start to really hurt (not from any injury, but just like every other muscle can hurt). I feel like when I’m trying to push the pace they are the ones that are more limiting (because they burn a lot more than the ‘main’ cycling muscles).

What’s up with this?

And no i’m not a PCer.

edit: the only change i can remember making is that i’ve started pedaling with my toes slightly pointed down at all times during the pedal stroke. not lance style but my foot is definetly not flat.

Your hip angle may be too acute, this can cause your flexors to really burn.

Try raising your bars a little bit, or move your saddle forward a little.

do you stretch your hip flexors???

Don’t know how to
.

go to the Dave Scott Stretching thread… there is a good stretch for the hip flexors(psoas stretch especially)…

with cycling, running, ab-work, sitting in front of the computer, driving, etc… the hip flexors never get a chance to stretch out…

maybe give those stretches a try and see if that helps…

Ride more…
