I finally decided to download some old 70s and early 80s funk music I had been missing from my music library. I’d like to try my hand at mixing some of it on my comp. I usually use freeware for most applications as it seems to do all I need and be minus a lot of the “features” and malware I would rather not have. Anyone got anything they use? I am interested in being able to modify tempos, fade things in and out and to string sections of songs together (aka “mix”) I don’t need a ton of special effects or anything. I love this kind of music and have a friend with similar taste in music that i would like to mix somethings for.
I don’t know of much for multi-track, but Goldwave and Audacity, especially the former, may serve your purposes. Goldwave isn’t technically free, though you can abuse the brilliant! author’s generosity without reprimand.
Have fun.
Thanks, i had found both of those, gonna try the Audacity one first, just because it is a little smaller, thanks
.
No worries. Audacity can’t hold a candle to Goldwave IMHO.
Evidently not, i can’t even view the manual for Audacity
.
Goldwave. Period. I’ve been using it for years and am still blown away by it. FWIW, I think it’s as good as software gets.
