UPDATE for 2006 SEASON:
With Lake Placid being 36 weeks from tomorrow (11/14), I figured that it would be a good time to remind anyone who wanted some guidance for their training that I have made available a free 36-week IM training program.
While this used to be only available for a fee, and recently only available via downloading to your PC, I’ve got a new permanent home for it on the web:
http://llerandi.org/supercoach
The site is an ongoing project, but the left side of the above page gives you access to all 36 weeks of workouts that you can use to get started.
I’ll be updating the site over the next several weeks, so if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to either post them here or send me an email.
Have fun with it!
-Mike

UPDATE:
Thanks to Hid, you can retrieve the zip archive with all the associated html files at
http://tri.almaneih.com/Mikes_36-Week_IM_Program/Ironman_workouts.zip
After unzipping the contents, open the file named “index” in your browser & you’ll be ready to go.
Happy to help the team (my carpal tunnel thanks you, Hid!
My brother & I used to coach a couple hundred people around the world, back in the 90’s when my time wasn’t at such a premium. I’ve been asked quite a few times since if I had any basic workouts available to provide some guidance and consistency toward an Ironman distance race.
I finally managed to pull this together (old date references replaced by more generic “Week 3”, etc.) into one zip archive that includes 36 weeks of steady progression toward an IM race: 2 pre-season, 20 prep period, 12 competitive season, 2-week taper. Two friends used this last year and another is following it now toward IM Brazil – so far, very positive feedback.
The idea is that you could review the training volume progression & the amount of time left until your IM target race, then determine which week # to start with (I suggest picking one that is either right at, or just a little less than, where you are right now). The regimen structure should be helpful – at least as a guide, if nothing else – regardless of where you are in your current program.
Since I don’t have a mechanism to post this for download, just send me an email & I’ll send the zip file in my reply. And since it’s free, I’m including a money back guarantee and all the support that you paid for!
Seriously, if you have any questions (that aren’t covered in the associated FAQ), you can post those here so I can share the answers.
Take care & have fun with it-
-Mike
