In reading about your TX traffic court experience I was surprised to learn that you’re living in El Paso, TX. I’m assuming this is by choice, but why? I was born in the Sun City and lived there for most of the first 15 years of my life but it does not appeal to me to return. Do you enjoy living there? There must be some compelling reason.
the last time I was there was about 5 years ago and I noticed the air pollution. The desert landscape never appealed to me. During the last 17 years I’ve lived in either Minnesota or Chicago. I really like seeing trees and water.
My wife and I are currently considering a change of scenery. Most likely the Northeast instead of the Southwest.
Chico’s Tacos is the only thing I miss. You can get tacos anywhere but their flauta style in boat of sauce is unique. Do you ever indulge?
What about the Charcoaler?
I’m going to see my parents and brother and sister next weekend. We always go there for a burger with green chiles and the onion rings. Good thing I don’t live there. I might eat that stuff all of the time.
Griggs’ anyone?
Was going to recommend a move to Perth - (most isolated capital city on earth and not much heavy industry) but then I remembered what happened there last week…
After 2 weeks at the mine I got back home Tuesday night - went to bed early and set the alarm for 6am to get up and ride “around the river” (55km leisurely scenic spin mainly on smooth cycle paths - beautiful) Trouble was when I got out of bed the whole city was blanketed in smoke from bush fires that had been raging since some bastard arsonist had torched the forests a few days ago - oh well it was my first chance to ride in two weeks so went anway. Visibility was around 2kms and it was pretty horrible.
That night on the news they said it was the worst air pollution Perth had ever recorded and was approaching a normal LA day… The last part of that made me feel better even if I did feel like I had smoke a pack of cigarettes!
Two days after that ride I came close to certain death - a truckie drove beside me closer than I had ever experienced - not nice having 30 or 40 ton trying to suck you under the wheels from 10cm away at 60kph.
Sweet justice though… traffic lights ahead - I went right off at him and spat on his window then pumped full of adrenalin proceeded to ride home like Eddie Merckx!
