Frame material & Travelling; Slowman on Ti

Slowman just reviewed the new 2004 QR range of bikes and makes an interesting remark when talking about Ti as a material for building frames when reviewing the new SANTO.

“This bike ought to really sell well. Especially if you do a lot of traveling, or treat your bike less than nicely. Here’s a mid-priced bike in tri geometry that won’t dent, won’t rust, the paint won’t chip.”

Now this makes me wonder if you do travel to races a lot is Ti the best durable frame material you can choose or even if you want to make a longer term investment.

If you pack a bike a lot…get bare Ti…if you have a painted frame…it will look like crap in 2 seasons. Been there.

You should see the paint job on my carbon bike after 5 years of travelling, destroyed, mostly on one trip in Spain. I’m respraying it this month, but have since bought a Tiphoon.

Where is Slowman’s review of the 2004 QR bikes?
