just found a crack in my frame. noticed it while cleaning the bike these evening.
right at point where the seat post enters the frame, crack is dead center. on the side of the seat post nearest the handlebars.
the odd thing is that I have never wrecked on this frame. This will be season #3 on this bike.
tried to get photos, but the glare from the flash prevented the photos from coming out.
I bought the bike direct, through a friend in the bike industry, so I cant take it to the store I bought it at. I hope I am not screwed as I am just under 11 weeks out from IMA CDA and dont have the cash to buy a new bike right now.
Call my boy Tim at Cervelo. I act like I know him and he knows me but that’s not really the case. Fact is, he was real helpful when I suspected a crack in my seatpost. I bought from All3 and Tim helped me get the seatpost replaced under warranty at my local shop. He’s a nice guy and will genuinely try to help.
You can probably get the bike repaired. I’m fairly sure that Calfee will repair carbon bikes made regardless of the manufacturer. I don’t know what the cost and turnaround time would be, but I understand they are pretty much the best in the business at repairing carbon.
Are you sure it’s not the paint only that cracked? I have a P2C with the same crack but I took out the seat post and the crack doesn’t seem deep enough to be in the frame. The paint on the P2C seems to crack easily. I also have a small crack on one of the slots for the internal cable. The rear dropout paint also cracked from the trainer. Or maybe I’m just spoiled by my road bike w/c is titanium.
