Forward post suggestions?

I need a forward-tilted seatpost (like a Thomson turned backwards). Thomson makes one in the size I need – 28.6 x 330 – but nobody seems to carry it or even have a distributor that carries it.

Anybody have a suggestion on how to get my seat another 2cm forward without buying a new frame?

When you typed in the dimensions as 28.6 did you mean 26.8? I noticed the Thompson posts on all3sports.com but they list them as 26.8. They are obviously a Thompson dealer though, so maybe you could contact them and find out if they can order what you need. As a disclaimer … I’ve never purchased anything from them so I don’t know how they are for reliability and service.

Yeah, I double and triple checked – it’s 28.6, which is not a very common size. I’ll check with all3sports.com. Thanks for the tip.

A shim with the 26.8, perhaps? I did that with my Klein and haven’t had any problems with it (and it handles just fine).

There is a better solution than a foward seatpost. Look at the M2Power module. I have one on my Trek road bike which I use for training. It also allowed me to experiment with diff. angles. I still use it and this must be the most flexible device you can use if you are seeking that perfect seat angle.

the raceface “xy” post is good looking and cheap, light enuf and reversable. widely available. 28.6 available

You don’t want to go too far forward on a road bike as it will throw off your handling. You might only need a neutral offset seat post. That’s what I used on a Giant TCR for about 75/76 degree effective seat angle.

I agree with postmanpat regarding the M2 Racer power module. I had one but sold it because the neutral post on the TCR worked just right. Bontranger makes a good neutral seat post.

If you insist on the forward post, Profile also makes one. Check ebay.

This is for my tribike. It’s a 75 degree frame, and I’ve been riding it at 77 for a while, and want to go to 80 and try out a more aggressive position. I might not like it, so I’m reluctant to spend a bundle. Maybe the M2 thing would be an answer.
